Australian Flag Hijabs

On Australia Day, pictures of these beautiful young Somali-Australian women wearing Australian flag hijabs for Harmony Day in Melbourne, 2006 went viral. Here is the full set. What an outstanding and gorgeous display of everything that is good about multiculturalism.

These ladies were inspired to create these visually striking hijabs as a way of taking back a symbol that has been increasingly misused by white supremacists and racists, especially during the anti-Muslim Cronulla riots of 2005.

Fantastic!

Vincent Bousserez - Plastic Life - Murder of 2 hard drives

This is a pretty damned cool photoset by Vincent Bousserez to commemorate the passing of his...

... hard drives.

!

Vincent Bousserez does some pretty impressive and interesting photography featuring miniature plastic figurines in various settings, reminiscent of Mark Hogancamp's work but with a slightly different focus.
